Ditch the need to please everyone around you from "summary" of You Do You by Sarah Knight

When you spend all your time worrying about what others think of you, you're essentially giving them control over your life. You're letting their opinions dictate your every move, and that's a recipe for disaster. It's impossible to please everyone all the time, so why bother trying? It's exhausting, and it's not sustainable in the long run. People-pleasing is a losing game. You'll never be able to make everyone happy, no matter how hard you try. So instead of bending over backward to accommodate everyone else's wishes, why not focus on what makes you happy? Why not prioritize your own needs and desires for a change? When you stop worrying about pleasing others, you free yourself from the constraints that have been holding you back. You no longer have to tiptoe around people's feelings or suppress your true self in order to fit in. You can be authentic and unapologetic in your actions, knowing that you're doing what's best for you. It takes courage to break free from the need to please everyone, but once you do, you'll feel a weight lifted off your shoulders. You'll feel empowered and liberated, no longer shackled by the expectations of others. You'll be able to live your life on your own terms, without constantly seeking validation from those around you. So the next time you catch yourself trying to please everyone around you, take a step back and ask yourself why. Is it worth sacrificing your own happiness and well-being in order to gain the approval of others? Or is it time to prioritize yourself for a change and do what truly makes you happy? Remember, you do you – and that's more than enough.
