Every day when I was living in a garage and eating dollar tacos for dinner, I would lay in bed and list off everything I was grateful for that I could think of. I was always sure to include hot water, window blinds, and the ability to think at the top of my list, along with my athletic body and all the money I knew was coming my way. I was also grateful for the big things, like the fact that I was breathing and my heart was beating and my dog was sleeping peacefully at the foot of my bed, and for all the beautiful things in my life that I knew were on their way to me.
I also made sure to include things that hadn’t happened yet, but that I wanted to happen. I’d say things like: “I am so grateful for the perfect parking spot that is always waiting for me in front of wherever I’m going,” and “I am so grateful that money comes to me in increasing quantities through multiple sources on a continuous basis.” The point was to feel...
