Learn to say no when necessary from "summary" of Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes
Saying yes had become second nature to me. Yes to every invitation, every opportunity, every request that came my way. I prided myself on being the woman who could do it all, who could handle anything that was thrown her way. But as time went on, I began to realize that saying yes all the time was slowly draining me of the energy and passion I once had. I was spreading myself too thin, trying to please everyone but myself in the process. It took me a while to come to terms with the fact that saying no was not a sign of weakness, but rather a sign of strength. Saying no meant setting boundaries, prioritizing my own needs and well-being above all else. It meant recognizing that my time and energy were valuable, and that I had the right to say no to things that did not align with my goals and values. Learning to say no when necessary was a liberating experience. It allowed me to reclaim control over my life, to focus on what truly mattered to me, and to say yes to the things that brought me joy and fulfillment. It was a process of unlearning old habits and redefining my boundaries, of letting go of the need to please everyone and instead, focusing on pleasing myself. Saying no was not always easy. There were moments when I felt guilty or selfish for putting myself first, for turning down opportunities that seemed too good to pass up. But as I embraced the power of no, I began to see it as an act of self-care and self-respect. It was a way of honoring myself and my needs, of being true to who I was and what I wanted out of life. So I learned to say no when necessary, with grace and confidence. I learned to trust my instincts, to listen to my gut, and to stand firm in my decisions. And in doing so, I discovered a newfound sense of freedom and authenticity that had been missing from my life for far too long. Saying no was not a sign of weakness, but rather a sign of strength and self-respect. And as I embraced this truth, I found myself saying yes to the things that truly mattered, to the things that brought me joy and fulfillment.Similar Posts
