Mental health struggles are nothing to be ashamed of from "summary" of Wow, No Thank You. by Samantha Irby

It's so easy to feel like you're the only one struggling, isn't it? Like everyone else has their shit together and you're the one over here barely keeping your head above water. But here's the thing: everyone's got their battles. Some are just better at hiding it than others. And that's okay. There's this weird stigma around mental health, like it's something to be ashamed of. Like if you're struggling, you should keep it to yourself and suffer in silence. But that's bullshit. Mental health struggles are nothing to be ashamed of. They're just a part of life, like getting a cold or breaking a bone. We need to start talking about mental health more openly. We need to let people know that it's okay to not be okay. That it's okay to ask for help. Because the truth is, we all need a little help sometimes. And there's no shame in that. So if you're struggling, don't keep it to yourself. Reach out to someone you trust. Talk to a therapist. Take care of yourself. Because you deserve to feel better. You deserve to be happy. And there's nothing wrong with asking for help to get there.
