Being vulnerable allows for deeper connections with others from "summary" of Wow, No Thank You. by Samantha Irby

Being vulnerable is like holding the door open for someone to walk into your most intimate spaces and have a good poke around. It's letting someone see all your soft, squishy parts that you usually keep hidden behind a carefully constructed facade of jokes and sarcasm. When you allow yourself to be vulnerable, you give others the opportunity to truly connect with you on a deeper level. It's like saying, "Here I am, flaws and all. Take me or leave me." By showing your vulnerability, you're inviting others to do the same. It's a two-way street of openness and honesty that can lead to authentic and meaningful relationships. When you let down your guard and share your fears, insecurities, and struggles, you're allowing others to see the real you. And in turn, they may feel more comfortable sharing their own vulnerabilities with you. Being vulnerable can be scary because it means risking rejection and judgement. It's much easier to keep our walls up and hide behind a mask of strength and invulnerability. But true connections can only be formed when we let those walls down and show our true selves. It's through vulnerability that we can bridge the gap between ourselves and others, creating a bond that is built on mutual trust and understanding. When we are willing to be vulnerable, we open ourselves up to the possibility of deeper, more meaningful connections with others. It's through our vulnerability that we can truly be seen and accepted for who we are. So next time you're tempted to put up your guard and keep your emotions in check, remember that being vulnerable is the key to forging genuine relationships with those around you.
