Unity can be achieved through secular governance from "summary" of Why I am an Atheist by Bhagat Singh

In our society, the idea of unity is often linked with religion. People believe that only through religious beliefs and practices can unity be achieved. But I beg to differ. I believe that unity can be achieved through secular governance. Let me explain why. Secular governance is based on principles that are not influenced by religious beliefs. It focuses on creating a society where people of all faiths – or no faith at all – can coexist peacefully. In a secular state, the government does not favour any particular religion, thus ensuring that all citizens are treated equally regardless of their beliefs. By adopting secular governance, we can create a society where people are not divided along religious lines. Instead of focusing on our differences, we can come together as a united front, working towards common goals and values. This will help in fostering a sense of belonging and camaraderie among all citizens, regardless of their religious affiliations. Secular governance also ensures that the government remains impartial in matters of religion. This means that decisions are made based on rationality and logic, rather than religious dogma. It allows for the free expression of ideas and beliefs, without fear of persecution or discrimination. In a secular society, individuals are free to practice their religion – or not – as they see fit. This freedom promotes tolerance and acceptance, leading to a more harmonious and inclusive society. It allows for diversity to flourish, enriching our cultural fabric and promoting understanding among different groups. So, you see, unity can indeed be achieved through secular governance. By embracing principles of equality, impartiality, and freedom, we can create a society where all citizens can thrive and contribute to the greater good. Let us strive towards a future where unity is not based on religious beliefs, but on our shared humanity.
