Mindfulness is about awareness, not perfection from "summary" of Wherever You Go, There You are by John Hampel
Mindfulness is not about striving for perfection. It is not about achieving a flawless state of being where everything is in perfect harmony. It is about being present in the moment, fully aware of whatever is happening within and around us. It is about recognizing and accepting things as they are, without judgment or the need to change them. When we practice mindfulness, we cultivate a sense of awareness that allows us to see things as they truly are. We observe our thoughts, emotions, and sensations without getting caught up in them. We learn to let go of our attachment to certain outcomes or expectations, and simply be with what is. This kind of awareness helps us to respond to life's challenges with greater clarity and equanimity. Perfectionism, on the other hand, is based on the belief that we must meet certain standards or expectations in order to be happy or successful. It is a rigid and often unrealistic way of thinking that can lead to anxiety, stress, and dissatisfaction. When we are focused on perfection, we are constantly striving for something that is unattainable, setting ourselves up for disappointment and frustration. Mindfulness invites us to let go of the need for perfection and instead embrace the imperfections of life. It encourages us to approach each moment with an open mind and a compassionate heart. By practicing mindfulness, we can cultivate a sense of peace and contentment that comes from simply being present with whatever arises, whether it is pleasant or unpleasant.- Mindfulness is about embracing the full spectrum of human experience, with all its joys and sorrows, successes and failures. It is about being fully engaged in the present moment, without being consumed by regrets about the past or worries about the future. Through mindfulness, we can learn to accept ourselves and our circumstances with kindness and understanding, knowing that we are already whole and complete just as we are.
