Mindfulness involves being fully present in each moment from "summary" of Wherever You Go, There You are by John Hampel

Mindfulness is about being fully present in each moment, without judgment or distraction. It means paying attention to what is happening right now, without dwelling on the past or worrying about the future. This may sound simple, but in reality, it can be quite challenging. Our minds have a tendency to wander, to get caught up in thoughts, memories, and fantasies. We are constantly bombarded with distractions, both external and internal. It takes effort and practice to keep our focus on the present moment. One way to cultivate mindfulness is through meditation. By sitting quietly and focusing on our breath, we can train our minds to be more attentive and aware. This practice helps us to develop a greater sense of clarity and calm, allowing us to see things more clearly and to respond more skillfully to whatever comes our way. But mindfulness is not just about meditation. It is a way of approaching life, a way of being in the world. When we are mindful, we are more in tune with ourselves and with the world around us. We are more aware of our thoughts, feelings, and sensations, as well as of the people and things in our environment. We are able to appreciate the beauty and complexity of each moment, no matter how ordinary or mundane it may seem. Mindfulness helps us to see things as they are, without the distortions of our judgments or expectations. Being fully present in each moment does not mean that we have to ignore the past or the future. It simply means that we should not get lost in them. We can learn from the past and plan for the future, but we should not let them overshadow the present. By staying grounded in the here and now, we can experience life more fully and deeply. Mindfulness is about embracing each moment with an open heart and a clear mind, ready to meet whatever comes our way.
