Gender equality benefits society as a whole. It is not just about women. It is about all of us. Gender stereotypes harm boys too. They must be strong, they must not show vulnerability. In truth, masculinity is a hard, small cage, and we put boys inside this cage. We teach boys to be afraid of fear, of weakness, of vulnerability. We teach them to mask their true selves. And then we wonder why men are so unhappy. We wonder why men find it hard to connect. We wonder why men are more likely to commit suicide than women. Gender equality benefits society as a whole. It allows both men and women to fully explore who they are. It allows everyone to be their true selves, without the constraints of traditional gender roles.
