Overcome obstacles through determination from "summary" of Up from Slavery. by Booker T. Washington
In my life, I have faced many obstacles that could have easily deterred me from my goals. From being born a slave to facing discrimination and prejudice, I could have succumbed to the difficulties that came my way. However, I quickly learned that determination is the key to overcoming any obstacle that stands in your path. When I was a young boy, I witnessed the determination of my mother, who was determined to see her children receive an education. Despite the challenges and hardships she faced as a slave, she never wavered in her belief that education was the key to a better life. Her determination inspired me to strive for greatness and never give up, no matter the circumstances. As I grew older and began my journey towards freedom and education, I encountered many obstacles along the way. From lack of resources to discrimination, I faced numerous challenges that could have easily discouraged me. However, I refused to let these obstacles define me. Instead, I used my determination to push through and achieve my goals. One of the most significant obstacles I faced was the lack of educational opportunities for African Americans during that time. Instead of letting this obstacle hinder me, I used my determination to create my own opportunities. I founded the Tuskegee Institute, a school dedicated to providing African Americans with a quality education. Through hard work and perseverance, I was able to overcome this obstacle and create a lasting impact on the lives of many.- The concept of overcoming obstacles through determination is a powerful lesson that I have learned throughout my life. By staying determined and focused on your goals, you can overcome any obstacle that stands in your way. Through hard work, perseverance, and unwavering determination, you can achieve greatness and make a lasting impact on the world around you.
