Overcome obstacles through determination from "summary" of Up from Slavery. by Booker T. Washington

In my life, I have faced many obstacles that could have easily deterred me from my goals. From being born a slave to facing discrimination and prejudice, I could have succumbed to the difficulties that came my way. However, I quickly learned that determination is the key to overcoming any obstacle that stands in your path. When I was a young boy, I witnessed the determination of my mother, who was determined to see her children receive an education. Despite the challenges and hardships she faced as a slave, she never wavered in her belief that education was the key to a better life. Her determination inspired me to strive for greatness and never give up, no matter the circumstances. As I grew older and began my journey towards freedom and education, I encountered many obstacles along the way. From lack of resources to discrimination, I faced numerous challenges that could have easily discouraged me. However, I refused to let these obstacles define me. Instead, I used my determination to push through and achieve my goals. One of the most significant obstacles I faced was the lack of educational opportunities for African Americans during that time. Instead of letting this obstacle hinder me, I used my determination to create my own opportunities. I founded the Tuskegee Institute, a school dedicated to providing African Americans with a quality education. Through hard work and perseverance, I was able to overcome this obstacle and create a lasting impact on the lives of many.
