Negative thought patterns can be insidious little buggers, worming their way into your brain and setting up camp without your permission. They can become so familiar that you might not even notice when they're there, whispering their toxic messages in your ear. But just because these thoughts have taken up residence in your mind doesn't mean you have to let them stay. The first step in challenging negative thought patterns is to simply notice when they arise. Pay attention to the thoughts that flit through your mind like pesky mosquitoes. Are they telling you that you're not good enough, that you're a failure, that you'll never succeed? Recognizing these thoughts for what they are – harmful and untrue – is the first step in reclaiming your mental space.
