Focus on the present moment from "summary" of Unf*ck Yourself by Gary John Bishop

When you're fixated on the past or anxious about the future, you're missing out on what's happening right in front of you. You're not present. You're not fully engaged with the here and now. You're letting precious moments slip through your fingers because you're distracted by what has already happened or what might happen next. You're not living your life; you're stuck in your head, trapped by thoughts that don't serve you. The present moment is where life is happening. It's where you have the power to make choices and take action. When you focus on the present moment, you're able to fully experience what is happening around you. You're able to connect with the people in your life, appreciate the beauty of the world, and savor the small joys that make life worth living. You're able to be fully present in your own life, rather than just a passive observer. When you're present, you're able to respond to situations with clarity and purpose. You're not reacting based on past hurts or future fears; you're responding based on what is happening right now. You're able to make decisions that align with your values and goals, rather than being driven by old patterns or external pressures. You're able to take control of your life and create the future you want. Focusing on the present moment doesn't mean ignoring the past or the future. It means acknowledging them without being consumed by them. It means learning from the past and planning for the future, but not letting them dictate your present. It means being mindful of how your past experiences and future goals influence your choices in the here and now. It means living in the present moment with intention and awareness. So, when you find yourself getting caught up in thoughts of the past or worries about the future, bring yourself back to the present moment. Take a deep breath, look around you, and focus on what is happening right now. Embrace the present moment as an opportunity to fully engage with your life and create the future you desire.
