The status quo is the enemy of progress from "summary" of Tribes by Seth Godin

The status quo is a powerful force that resists change. It's easy to get comfortable with the way things are and resist any kind of disruption. But the truth is, progress can only happen when we challenge the status quo and push beyond the boundaries of what's familiar and safe. When we accept the status quo, we are essentially settling for mediocrity. We are choosing to stay stuck in the same old patterns and routines, even if they are no longer serving us. It's like being on a treadmill that's going nowhere fast. We might be moving, but we're not actually making any progress. In order to make real change happen, we need to break free from the limitations of the status quo. We need to be willing to take risks, to step outside of our comfort zones, and to embrace the unknown. This is where true innovation and progress can happen – when we are willing to challenge the status quo and explore new possibilities. The status quo is not just an external force – it's also something that exists within each of us. We all have our own internal status quo, made up of our beliefs, habits, and fears. To make real progress, we need to confront these internal barriers and push past them. We need to be willing to question our assumptions, to challenge our beliefs, and to push ourselves beyond our self-imposed limitations.
  1. Progress requires us to be willing to disrupt the status quo – both externally and internally. It requires us to be courageous, to be bold, and to be willing to embrace uncertainty. It's only when we are willing to challenge the status quo that we can truly make a difference and create a better future for ourselves and for others.
