Lessons in forgiveness from "summary" of To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han

Forgiveness is a tricky thing. Sometimes it's easy to forgive, like when someone accidentally bumps into you in the hallway. You can brush it off and move on. But other times, forgiveness feels impossible. Like when someone hurts you deeply, or betrays your trust. It's those moments that really put forgiveness to the test. In "To All the Boys I've Loved Before," forgiveness is a central theme that runs through the story. Lara Jean Song Covey, the protagonist, finds herself grappling with forgiveness in different ways. She has to learn to forgive her sister for leaving for college and leaving her behind. She has to forgive her best friend for dating her ex-boyfriend. And most importantly, she has to forgive herself for the mistakes she's made along the way. Throughout the book, Lara Jean learns that forgiveness is not just about letting go of anger or resentment. It's about finding peace within yourself, and moving forward with an open heart. Forgiveness is a process, not a one-time event. It takes time and effort, but it's worth it in the end.
  1. Her ex-boyfriend, about his past actions. She doesn't let him off the hook easily, but she also doesn't hold onto her anger forever. She listens to his side of the story, and ultimately finds it in herself to forgive him. It's a moment of growth and maturity for Lara Jean, and it shows just how much she's learned about forgiveness along the way.
