Embracing individuality from "summary" of To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han

In our world, there are so many pressures to conform, to fit in, to be like everyone else. But what I've come to realize is that embracing individuality is one of the most powerful things a person can do. When you embrace who you truly are, when you allow yourself to be authentic, that's when you shine the brightest. I used to think that blending in was the best way to avoid standing out. I wanted to be invisible, to fly under the radar. But as I've grown older, I've come to see that standing out isn't necessarily a bad thing. In fact, it's often a good thing. Embracing individuality means celebrating the things that make you unique, the things that set you apart from everyone else. In our society, there's this idea that we have to conform to certain standards of beauty, of success, of happiness. But the truth is, those standards are arbitrary. They're not real. Embracing individuality means rejecting those standards and creating your own. It means defining success on your own terms, finding beauty in the things that make you different, and seeking happiness in the things that truly matter to you. When you embrace individuality, you're giving yourself permission to be who you are, not who others want you to be. You're allowing yourself to make choices based on your own values and desires, not on what society tells you is right or wrong. It takes courage to embrace individuality, to stand up and say, "This is who I am, and I'm proud of it. " But it's worth it. Because when you embrace your individuality, you're not just living life – you're owning it.
