Understanding systems requires recognizing nonlinear relationships. Linear thinking can lead us astray when dealing with complex systems. Nonlinear relationships are often the norm in systems, where small changes can have disproportionate effects. Without acknowledging nonlinear relationships, our understanding of systems remains limited. Linear thinking simplifies reality, assuming that inputs lead to proportional outputs. However, systems are rarely linear in nature. Instead, they exhibit feedback loops, delays, and non-proportional relationships.
