The corporate world can attract individuals with psychopathic tendencies from "summary" of The Wisdom of Psychopaths by Kevin Dutton
The corporate world is a breeding ground for a certain type of individual. One with a peculiar set of traits. Traits that might, at first glance, appear unsettling. Disruptive. Even dangerous. But traits that, on closer inspection, reveal themselves to be not only advantageous but, in some cases, indispensable. In the high-stakes environment of business, where cut-throat competition is the order of the day, certain qualities that might be perceived as liabilities in other contexts can actually be assets. And it is precisely these qualities that individuals with psychopathic tendencies possess in abundance. Psychopaths, by their very nature, are fearless. They thrive in high-pressure situations, where others might falter. They are supremely confident, often to the point of arrogance. They possess a ruthless drive for success, unencumbered by feelings of guilt or remorse. And they excel at manipulation, able to charm and deceive their way to the top. In the world of business, these traits can be highly valued. A psychopath's lack of empathy allows them to make tough decisions without being clouded by sentiment. Their fearlessness enables them to take risks that others would shy away from. And their charm and charisma can smooth over even the most difficult negotiations. It is no wonder, then, that the corporate world can be a magnet for individuals with psychopathic tendencies. In an environment that rewards ruthless ambition and cut-throat competition, those who possess the qualities of a psychopath may find themselves in their element. And while the idea of psychopaths in the boardroom may be unsettling, the reality is that they may be better suited to the world of business than we would like to admit.Similar Posts
