Psychopaths have a heightened sense of selfpreservation from "summary" of The Wisdom of Psychopaths by Kevin Dutton

Psychopaths are often portrayed as reckless individuals who have no regard for their own safety. However, this is not entirely true. In fact, psychopaths have a heightened sense of self-preservation. They are acutely aware of potential dangers and are adept at avoiding them. This heightened sense of self-preservation can be attributed to the psychopath's ability to remain calm and composed in high-stress situations. While others may panic or make impulsive decisions, psychopaths are able to assess the situation rationally and choose the course of action that will best ensure their survival. Furthermore, psychopaths are extremely adept at reading people and situations. They can quickly assess threats and adjust their behavior accordingly. This ability to adapt to changing circumstances is a key factor in their heightened sense of self-preservation. Additionally, psychopaths are skilled at manipulating others to their advantage. They are masters at charming and deceiving people in order to achieve their goals. This manipulation can also serve to protect them from harm, as they are able to influence others to act in their favor.
  1. Psychopaths possess a unique combination of traits that contribute to their heightened sense of self-preservation. Their ability to remain calm under pressure, assess threats effectively, adapt to changing circumstances, and manipulate others all work together to ensure their survival in even the most dangerous situations.
