Deadly showdown in the swamp from "summary" of The Werewolf of Fever Swamp by R. L. Stine

The moon was full and bright, casting an eerie glow over the still waters of Fever Swamp. Grunts and growls echoed through the trees as the werewolf prowled through the murky depths, its eyes glowing with a fierce hunger. Jack and his sister, Cassie, knew they were in for a deadly showdown with the creature that had been terrorizing their small town. As they ventured deeper into the swamp, the air grew thick with the stench of decay and the sounds of the night creatures became more ominous. Jack's heart pounded in his chest as he gripped the silver bullets in his pocket, the only thing that could stop the werewolf's rampage. Cassie clutched her flashlight tightly, her eyes darting nervously from shadow to shadow. Suddenly, a low growl sounded from the bushes ahead, causing Jack and Cassie to freeze in their tracks. The werewolf emerged from the darkness, its fur matted with blood and its fangs glistening in the moonlight. Jack raised his gun, his hands shaking with fear and adrenaline as he took aim at the monster before him. The werewolf let out a deafening roar and lunged at the siblings, its claws slashing through the air with deadly intent. Jack fired his gun, the silver bullet finding its mark and causing the creature to howl in pain. But the werewolf was relentless, charging at them with a ferocity that seemed unstoppable. Cassie shone her flashlight on the beast, the beam of light causing it to recoil in agony. Jack seized the moment, firing shot after shot until the werewolf lay motionless at their feet, its eyes staring blankly up at the sky. The siblings breathed a sigh of relief, knowing they had finally put an end to the terror that had plagued their town. As they made their way back through the swamp, the moon began to sink below the horizon, its light fading into darkness. Jack and Cassie walked side by side, the weight of their victory heavy on their shoulders. But they knew that they had faced their fears and emerged victorious, stronger and braver than ever before. And as they left Fever Swamp behind them, they knew that they would always be prepared for whatever dangers lurked in the shadows.
