Apollo grapples with his mortality from "summary" of The Trials of Apollo, Book One: The Hidden Oracle by Rick Riordan

In my long life, I have been many things: a god, a musician, a leader. I have faced countless challenges and emerged victorious. But now, as I find myself trapped in the body of a mortal teenager, I am faced with a new kind of challenge - one that I never imagined I would have to confront. The knowledge that I am no longer invincible weighs heavily on me, a constant reminder of my own mortality. Gone are the days when I could command the forces of nature with a mere flick of my wrist, when I was worshipped and adored by mortals far and wide. Now, I stumble and fall like any other human, my powers diminished to almost nothing. The very thought of death, of fading away into nothingness, terrifies me in a way that I never thought possible. I am no longer the all-powerful Apollo, but a mere shadow of my former self. As I navigate the trials that have been set before me, I am forced to confront the reality of my situation. No longer able to rely on my godly abilities, I must rely on my wits and the help of those around me. It is a humbling experience, one that challenges me to my very core. The knowledge that I am mortal, that my time on this earth is finite, haunts me every step of the way. But perhaps, in facing my mortality head-on, I will discover a new kind of strength. Perhaps, in embracing my humanity, I will find a way to rise above my circumstances and emerge victorious once more. For now, I must steel myself for the challenges that lie ahead, knowing that my mortality is both my greatest weakness and my greatest strength.
