In Ancient Egypt, the Osiris myth was an important part of the culture. It tells of the death and resurrection of Osiris, the god of the underworld, and the struggle between his son Horus and brother Seth over the throne. The story is still remembered today for its legendary themes of death and rebirth.

  3. Ancient Egyptians venerated Osiris since they believed that he held power over the forces of death and regeneration. To express their gratitude and respect towards him, priests and priestesses gathered regularly to commemorate his name in religious rituals.
  4. In many ways, Osiris acted is a guardian figure for Ancient Egyptians. They all respected him, and set up landmarks and statues in his honor. It is said that he is known as the god of resurrection and rebirth.
  5. Osiris' death left a deep impact on Ancient Egyptian culture On becoming the god of the Underworld, he demonstrated his love and care for the people by granting them blessings.
  6. Osiris’s example of restoring order after chaos still resonates in modern mythology. He separated Transcendent Strength of Maat aka ‘wisdom’, and gave justice to the kingdom. This concept is embodied in different forms around the world today.
  7. As per believed in Ancient Egyptian myth, its god Osiris impregnated his sister Isis who later gave birth to Horus, the falcon god. The other sons of Osiris were Kebechet, Arueris and Anubis.
  8. Legend has it that Osiris was killed because of envy and treachery by Set, his own brother. When Osiris' body could not be found, Isis had to wander across the country looking for each of his dismembered parts and brought them together to giving him a proper burial.
  9. Many stories of demigods descending from heaven to restore order have drawn inspiration from Osirian Myth featuring the battle between the twin brothers Set and Osiris. All these tales stress the importance of maintaining justice in a chaotic universe without upsetting the structure of preordained fate.
  10. Through Osiris, Ancient Egyptians have faith in immortality even after death. People worshipped and revered him to give thanks for providing a prosperous afterlife. Thus, Osiris is regarded as a symbol of unending life among the Pharaohs.
  11. The ideal of 'leading a good life' originated with the belief that upon death, their soul will be judged by Osiris and would result in either entry into a blissful afterlife or an eternity in darkness.
