Sherlock Holmes is a man of many peculiar habits and eccentricities. His approach to life is marked by a simplicity that borders on austerity. He lives in a sparsely-furnished apartment at 221B Baker Street, with only the bare essentials to meet his needs. This simplicity extends to his personal habits as well; he is known to go days without eating or sleeping when engrossed in a case. One of Holmes's most notable habits is his use of tobacco. He is an avid pipe smoker, and his tobacco of choice is a strong black shag. He is also a master of disguise, often using elaborate costumes and makeup to blend in with his surroundings. This penchant for disguise is just one example of Holmes's eccentricities, which also include playing the violin at odd hours of the night and conducting bizarre experiments in his chemistry lab.
