But when it comes to ourselves, we often have a very different approach. We can be our own worst critics, beating ourselves up for our mistakes, flaws, and shortcomings. We engage in negative self-talk, filling our minds with harsh words and judgments. We forget to show ourselves the same level of kindness and compassion that we readily offer to our friends.
