Be compassionate towards yourself from "summary" of The Secret of Secrets by Osho
Compassion is a quality that we often reserve for others, forgetting to extend it to ourselves. We are quick to forgive the mistakes of others, yet we hold ourselves to impossibly high standards. We are harsh critics of our own actions, constantly berating ourselves for our perceived shortcomings. But what we fail to realize is that self-compassion is essential for our well-being. When we are compassionate towards ourselves, we treat ourselves with the same kindness and understanding that we would offer to a friend in need. Instead of criticizing ourselves for our mistakes, we offer ourselves words of encouragement and support. We recognize that we are only human, and that we are bound to make mistakes from time to time. Instead of dwelling on our failures, we choose to learn from them and grow as individuals. Self-compassion is not about making excuses for our behavior or avoiding responsibility for our actions. It is about acknowledging our humanity and accepting ourselves for who we are, flaws and all. When we are compassionate towards ourselves, we are better able to cope with the challenges and difficulties that life throws our way. We are more resilient in the face of adversity, and more able to bounce back from setbacks. By cultivating self-compassion, we are able to build a stronger sense of self-worth and self-esteem. We are better able to recognize our own inherent value, and to treat ourselves with the respect and kindness that we deserve. When we are compassionate towards ourselves, we are more able to cultivate compassion towards others as well. We are better able to empathize with the struggles and suffering of those around us, and to offer them the same kindness and understanding that we offer to ourselves. In the end, self-compassion is a transformative practice that has the power to change our lives for the better. It allows us to let go of the self-critical voices that hold us back, and to embrace a more positive and nurturing relationship with ourselves. When we are compassionate towards ourselves, we are able to live more fully and authentically, and to experience greater peace and happiness in our lives.Similar Posts
