Adrian's friendship with Nigel is tested from "summary" of The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13 3⁄4 by Sue Townsend

Adrian's friendship with Nigel is facing a challenging time. It all started when Nigel got a girlfriend, which Adrian found rather irritating. He felt neglected and left out, as Nigel spent more time with his new love interest. Adrian couldn't understand why Nigel would choose a girl over their friendship. As if that wasn't enough, Nigel started acting differently towards Adrian. He became more distant and seemed uninterested in their usual activities. Adrian couldn't help but feel hurt by Nigel's behavior. It was as if their friendship didn't matter anymore. To make matters worse, Nigel began to mock Adrian in front of their classmates. He would make fun of Adrian's quirks and embarrass him in public. Adrian was taken aback by this sudden change in Nigel's behavior. He couldn't comprehend why his friend would treat him in such a cruel manner. Despite everything that was happening, Adrian still held onto hope that their friendship could withstand these challenges. He tried to reach out to Nigel, but his efforts were often met with indifference. It was clear that their friendship was being put to the test, and Adrian wasn't sure if it would survive. As days turned into weeks, Adrian found himself feeling more and more isolated. He missed the bond he shared with Nigel and longed for things to go back to how they used to be. But deep down, he knew that things had changed between them, and their friendship would never be the same again.
