In the myths, fables, and religions of the world, woman is often presented in relation to man. She is seen as the "other", the complementary half of man, the one who exists to fulfill his desires and needs. From Eve being created from Adam's rib in the Bible to the concept of the "ideal woman" in fairy tales waiting for her prince charming, the idea of woman being defined by her relationship to man is deeply ingrained in our cultural consciousness. This notion is further reinforced by societal norms and expectations that dictate how women should behave, dress, and even think in relation to men.
