Advocacy is needed. The fact is that no one in his senses would propose that it is a good thing for people to be without decent boots in winter. One cannot, after all, take a detached view of people who are wandering about the streets in bleeding feet, or of people who have to work in factories with their nails falling off. Yet when one comes to think of it, even in normal times there are very few people who are really happy in their minds. This is due partly to the fact that the concept of human brotherhood is no longer accepted. But it is also due to the fact that poverty is an evil thing, and that it needs continual fighting against.
