Quran and science intersect in profound ways from "summary" of The Qur'an & Modern Science: Compatible or Incompatible? by Zakir Naik
The Quran and science intersect in profound ways. The Quran, which is the holy book of Islam, contains many scientific facts that were only discovered centuries after it was revealed. These scientific facts found in the Quran are in perfect harmony with modern scientific knowledge. This shows that the Quran is not just a religious text, but also a book that contains knowledge about the natural world that was not known to people at the time of its revelation. One example of the intersection between the Quran and science is the mention of the Big Bang theory in the Quran. The Big Bang theory is a widely accepted scientific theory that explains the origin of the universe. According to this theory, the universe began from a single point and has been expanding ever since. The Quran mentions the Big Bang in several verses, such as in Surah Al-Anbiya, where it says, "Do not the unbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were a closed-up mass, then We opened them out?" (21:30) This verse clearly describes the initial state of the universe as a closed-up mass before it was expanded, which is consistent with the Big Bang theory. Another example of the intersection between the Quran and science is the mention of the water cycle in the Quran. The water cycle is a fundamental process that regulates the distribution of water on Earth. The Quran mentions the water cycle in several verses, such as in Surah Al-Zumar, where it says, "He sends down from the sky water, and the valleys flow according to their measure, but the flood bears away the foam that mounts up to the surface. From that which they heat in the fire, seeking to make ornaments or utensils, there arises a scum like it. Thus Allah makes the true and the false apparent. As for the scum, it is cast away like filth, but that which is useful to people remains behind in the earth." (39:21) This verse describes the process of evaporation, condensation, and precipitation, which are all part of the water cycle. These examples show that the Quran contains scientific knowledge that was only discovered recently. This proves that the Quran is a book of guidance not only in matters of faith, but also in matters of science. The Quran and science are not incompatible, as some people claim, but are in fact in perfect harmony. The more we study the Quran and scientific discoveries, the more we realize the depth of knowledge contained in the Quran.Similar Posts
