Batch similar tasks together to increase efficiency from "summary" of The Productivity Project by Chris Bailey

One of the most effective strategies I discovered for making the most of my time was to group similar tasks together. By batching similar tasks, I was able to streamline my workflow and eliminate the mental strain caused by constantly switching between different types of work. When I batched tasks like responding to emails, making phone calls, or completing paperwork, I found that I was able to work more efficiently and with greater focus. This approach allowed me to get into a rhythm and stay in the zone, rather than constantly interrupting my concentration to switch gears. Not only did batching similar tasks save me time, but it also helped me to reduce decision fatigue. By making a conscious effort to group similar tasks together, I was able to make fewer decisions throughout the day, freeing up mental energy for more important tasks. In addition to boosting my productivity, batching similar tasks also helped me to improve the quality of my work. When I was able to focus on one type of task at a time, I found that I was able to produce higher-quality work in less time. By eliminating distractions and interruptions, I was able to give each task my full attention and produce better results.
