It is a peculiar thing, the way love can transform into something darker, more consuming. In my experience, it seems that the line between love and obsession is not always clear-cut. It can blur, like a watercolor painting left out in the rain, the colors bleeding into one another until they are indistinguishable. I have seen this phenomenon play out in the lives of those closest to me, particularly in the relationship between my sister Savannah and her husband, Tom.
