The system creates its own demise from "summary" of The Power of the Powerless (Routledge Revivals) by Vaclav Havel
The system that governs society is sustained by the cooperation and compliance of its citizens. Individuals within the system play their designated roles, following rules and norms that uphold the status quo. However, this very compliance can lead to the system's downfall. As people conform to the expectations and demands of the system, they become complicit in its perpetuation. Their actions, even those seemingly insignificant, contribute to the system's continued existence. By adhering to the rules and norms set by the system, individuals inadvertently empower it to maintain control over their lives. Over time, the system may become increasingly oppressive and unsustainable. As individuals become more aware of the system's flaws and injustices, they may begin to resist and challenge its authority. This resistance can take various forms, from acts of civil disobedience to organized movements seeking social change. The system, in response to this resistance, may attempt to suppress dissent and maintain its grip on power. However, these efforts only serve to further alienate and antagonize the population. The more the system relies on coercion and repression to quell dissent, the more it reveals its own weakness and vulnerability.- The system's dependence on the compliance of its citizens becomes its undoing. As more people withdraw their support and refuse to participate in perpetuating its injustices, the system loses its legitimacy and authority. The very mechanisms that once upheld the system now contribute to its demise, as individuals reclaim their power and agency to create a more just and equitable society.
