Prayer reinforces trust in God's goodness from "summary" of The Power of a Praying Woman by Stormie Omartian

When we pray, we are acknowledging our dependence on God and our need for His help. We are admitting that we cannot do everything on our own, that we need His guidance, His wisdom, His strength. This act of humility is itself an act of trust in God's goodness. By coming to Him in prayer, we are declaring that we believe He is good and that He is willing and able to help us. As we continue to pray, we are reminded of God's faithfulness in the past. We remember the times when He has answered our prayers, when He has provided for us, when He has shown us His love and care. These memories reinforce our trust in His goodness. They remind us that God is not distant or indifferent, but that He is actively involved in our lives, working all things together for our good. Prayer also helps us to focus on God's character. As we spend time in His presence, pouring out our hearts to Him, we are reminded of who He is – loving, merciful, compassionate, just, and holy. We are reminded that He is not only good, but that He is the source of all goodness. In praying, we are placing ourselves in the hands of a God who is infinitely good and trustworthy. Furthermore, prayer cultivates intimacy with God. As we pour out our hearts to Him, sharing our deepest fears, hopes, and desires, we draw closer to Him. We come to know Him in a deeper way, to experience His presence, His peace, and His joy. This intimacy strengthens our trust in His goodness, for we see firsthand the ways in which He cares for us, loves us, and provides for us. In all these ways, prayer reinforces our trust in God's goodness. It is not just a religious duty or a spiritual discipline, but a powerful means of deepening our relationship with God and strengthening our faith in Him. When we pray, we are declaring our belief in His goodness, our reliance on His help, and our confidence in His faithfulness. And in doing so, we are opening ourselves up to receive all the blessings that come from knowing and trusting in the goodness of our God.
