Neil's passion for poetry grows. At the beginning of the story, Neil is not interested in poetry at all. He thinks it's boring and doesn't see the point of it. However, as the story progresses, we see a shift in Neil's attitude towards poetry. This change is sparked by his encounters with Ms. W., the quirky school librarian who introduces him to the world of poetry. Ms. W. encourages Neil to explore different poets and styles of poetry.
