The old man Santiago was alone when he went out to sea to fish. He had no one to accompany him on his journey, no one to share in the hardships and triumphs that lay ahead. Santiago was used to this solitude, it had become a familiar companion to him over the years. He preferred the quiet company of the ocean and the creatures that dwelled within it. As he sailed further and further away from the shore, Santiago felt a sense of freedom and peace wash over him. The vast expanse of the ocean seemed to stretch out endlessly before him, inviting him to explore its depths and mysteries. Santiago welcomed this challenge with open arms, knowing that it would test his strength and resolve like never before. Despite his age and the aches and pains that plagued his body, Santiago remained determined and focused on his mission.
