The disguised Odysseus reveals his true identity from "summary" of The Odyssey by Homer

The cunning Odysseus disguised himself upon his return to Ithaca after years of wandering. He kept his true identity hidden, testing the loyalty of those around him. Only his loyal dog Argos recognized him, but passed away shortly after seeing his master once more. As he made his way to his palace, he encountered numerous suitors vying for the hand of his wife Penelope. They mocked and mistreated him, unaware that he was, in fact, the rightful king of Ithaca. Penelope, ever faithful to her missing husband, devised a plan to test the suitors. She announced that she would marry the man who could string Odysseus' bow and shoot an arrow through a line of twelve axes. One by one, the suitors tried and failed, until it was finally Odysseus' turn. With ease, he strung the bow and sent an arrow flying through the axes, revealing his true strength and skill to all present. In a moment of chaos and disbelief, he finally shed his disguise and revealed himself to the suitors. They were struck with fear and realization as they came face to face with the true king of Ithaca. Odysseus, with the help of his son Telemachus and a few loyal servants, swiftly dealt with the suitors, putting an end to their disrespectful presence in his home. With his true identity now known to all, Odysseus was able to reclaim his rightful place as king of Ithaca. His long and arduous journey had finally come to an end, and he could now enjoy the peace and prosperity that awaited him in his homeland.
