Sisyphus finds fulfillment in his task, not its completion from "summary" of THE MYTH OF SISYPHUS by ALBERT CARNUS

Sisyphus, the mythical king condemned to an eternity of rolling a boulder up a hill only for it to roll back down each time he nears the top, embodies the absurdity of the human condition. His punishment seems never-ending, futile, and ultimately meaningless. However, amidst this apparent hopelessness, Sisyphus finds a sense of fulfillment in the very act of pushing the rock. It is not the completion of the task that brings him satisfaction, but the struggle itself. The repetitive nature of Sisyphus's task could easily lead to despair and resignation. One might question the purpose of such a relentless and unrewarding endeavor. Yet, Sisyphus resists this temptation to give in to despair. He does not long for the moment when the boulder finally reaches the top of the hill, as this would mark the end of his purpose.
