Focus on proper breathing during exercises from "summary" of The Men's Fitness Exercise Bible by Sean Hyson
When you're in the heat of a workout, it's easy to get caught up in the intensity and forget about something as seemingly mundane as breathing. However, proper breathing is actually crucial to your performance. It can help you lift more weight, run faster, and endure longer. When you hold your breath during exercises, you increase intra-abdominal pressure, which can stabilize your spine and improve your lifting mechanics. On the other hand, exhaling during the concentric phase of a lift can help you generate more force and power.
To ensure that you're breathing properly during exercises, focus on inhaling before the eccentric (lowering) phase and exhaling during the concentric (lifting) phase. For example, when squatting, take a deep breath in as you lower yourself down, and exhale as you stand back up.
In general, you should aim to breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. This can help you take in more oxygen and expel more carbon dioxide, improving your overall performance.
Proper breathing will become second nature, and you'll notice improvements in your strength, endurance, and overall fitness level.
