Hope for the future from "summary" of The Lover's Dictionary by David Levithan
Hope for the future is a tricky thing. It's easy to say that you have it, but much harder to actually feel it. To have hope means to believe that things will get better, that there is light at the end of the tunnel. But what if the tunnel is endless? What if the light is just a mirage, a trick of the mind?In relationships, hope for the future can be a double-edged sword. On one hand, it can keep you going through the tough times, reminding you that there is something worth fighting for. On the other hand, it can blind you to the reality of the present, leading you to believe that things will magically improve without any effort on your part.
I used to believe in hope for the future. I used to think that if I just held on a little longer, things would work out in the end. But as time passed and nothing changed, I began to question whether hope was just a cruel joke, a way to keep me hanging on when I should have let go.
But then I realized that hope is not about waiting for things to change on their own. It's about taking action, making choices, and working towards a better future. It's about believing that you have the power to shape your own destiny, even when the odds are stacked against you.
So, I choose to hold onto hope for the future, not as a passive bystander, but as an active participant in my own life. I choose to believe that things can and will get better, as long as I am willing to put in the effort and make the necessary changes. Hope for the future is not just a feeling, it's a way of living. And I choose to live with hope in my heart, no matter what challenges may come my way.
