He would say he wants to be with me forever, but he doesn't even want to be with me for an hour. He wants me when it's easy, but he doesn't want to fight for me when it's hard. He can't commit to me, not because he doesn't love me, but because he's afraid of what commitment means. He's scared of being tied down, of losing his freedom, of being trapped in a relationship. He sees commitment as a burden, as a prison, as a death sentence. He thinks that if he commits to me, he'll lose himself, that he'll no longer be able to do what he wants, when he wants. He's afraid of losing his independence, his autonomy, his individuality. He's scared of being suffocated, of being controlled, of being restricted. He doesn't realize that commitment doesn't have to be a prison, that it can be a sanctuary, a safe haven, a refuge. He doesn't understand that commitment can be liberating, empowering, fulfilling. He doesn't see that commitment can make us stronger, happier, better. He's so focused on the negative aspects of commitment that he can't see the positive ones. He thinks that commitment is a sign of weakness, of vulnerability, of neediness. He believes that if he commits to me, he'll be giving up his power, his strength, his masculinity. He's afraid of being seen as less of a man, less of a person, less of himself. He's scared of being judged, of being ridiculed, of being rejected. He doesn't realize that commitment is a sign of courage, of maturity, of love. He doesn't understand that if he commits to me, he'll be showing his true self, his true feelings, his true intentions. He doesn't see that commitment can be a beautiful, meaningful, profound expression of love. He's so caught up in his fear of commitment that he can't see the beauty, the magic, the wonder of it.
