Appreciation of individuality from "summary" of The Lover's Dictionary by David Levithan
There are days when I am struck by the beauty of his individuality. It's not just the way he laughs or the way he looks when he's lost in thought. It's the way he sees the world, the way he moves through it with a certain grace that is all his own. His quirks and eccentricities only serve to make him more interesting to me, more compelling. I find myself drawn to the parts of him that are unique, that set him apart from everyone else.
I love the way he embraces his individuality, the way he doesn't try to fit into a mold or be like everyone else. He is unapologetically himself, and that is something I truly admire. It takes courage to be different, to go against the grain and be true to who you are. And he has that courage in spades. He is not afraid to be himself, even if it means standing out from the crowd.
I think that's what makes me love him even more - his willingness to be authentic, to be true to himself no matter what. It's refreshing to be with someone who doesn't feel the need to conform, who is comfortable in his own skin. I feel like I can be myself around him, that I don't have to pretend to be someone I'm not. And that is a rare and precious gift.
His individuality is like a breath of fresh air in a world that can sometimes feel stifling and conformist. He reminds me that it's okay to be different, to embrace the things that make me unique. He encourages me to be true to myself, to not be afraid of standing out. And for that, I am grateful. I am grateful for his individuality, for the way it inspires me to be a better, more authentic version of myself.
