To get better, you need a better plan. To improve, you need to follow a few simple principles. First, you must operate at the edge of your ability, where you make mistakes and correct them. Second, you must operate in short, intense sessions, not long, gray afternoons of low-level repetition. Third, you must stay in the sweet spot, that productive zone located just beyond your current abilities, where you're engaged and making errors, but not so many that you're discouraged.
