Continuously seek improvement from "summary" of The Little Book of Talent by Daniel Coyle

To get better, you need a better plan. To improve, you need to follow a few simple principles. First, you must operate at the edge of your ability, where you make mistakes and correct them. Second, you must operate in short, intense sessions, not long, gray afternoons of low-level repetition. Third, you must stay in the sweet spot, that productive zone located just beyond your current abilities, where you're engaged and making errors, but not so many that you're discouraged. The key to improvement is building a better circuit. Every time you perform a skill, you are physically remodeling your brain to become better at it. This means that every rep is a building block, every rep is a brushstroke on the painting of your skill. When you practice a skill, you're firing a signal down a wire, a circuit that connects the neurons. The thicker the wire, the quicker and stronger the signal. Each rep, each circuit, makes the wire thicker, makes the signal stronger. This is how skills improve. One of the keys to improvement is focus. If you're trying to improve your backhand, you should focus on your backhand. This means no checking your phone in the middle of practice, no chatting with your friends, no doodling in the margins. Focus is a skill, like any other. The more you practice it, the better you get. The better you get, the more you improve. It's a virtuous circle, a positive feedback loop that leads to growth and development. Improvement is a journey, not a destination. It's a process, not a product. Every day, you have the opportunity to get better, to take another step forward on the path to excellence. It's not always easy, it's not always fun, but it's always worth it. So keep seeking improvement. Keep striving to be better than you were yesterday. Keep pushing yourself to reach new heights. That's the secret to success, the key to greatness.
