Growing up in South Central Los Angeles, I learned early on the importance of remembering where you came from. My grandmother used to always tell me, "Don't forget your roots, baby girl. They are what make you who you are." And she was right. Our past shapes us in ways we may not even realize. When you remember where you came from, you stay grounded. You don't get caught up in the glitz and glamour of success. You remember the struggles, the sacrifices, the hard work that got you to where you are. It keeps you humble, grateful for what you have achieved, and mindful of those who helped you along the way.
