Striving for acceptance and forgiveness from "summary" of The Kite Runner (new) by Khaled Hosseini
Throughout the story, the characters are constantly seeking validation and redemption from others. This desire for acceptance stems from the guilt and shame they feel for past mistakes and wrongdoings. The protagonist, Amir, spends much of his life trying to win back the approval of his father, Baba, after betraying his childhood friend, Hassan. This betrayal haunts him, leading him to seek forgiveness and make amends for his actions.
Similarly, Hassan's son, Sohrab, longs for acceptance and love from Amir, who he sees as a father figure. Sohrab has been through a great deal of trauma and mistreatment, and he craves the comfort and security that only a caring guardian can provide. He struggles to trust others due to his past experiences, but ultimately yearns for connection and belonging.
