Another challenge that India had to contend with was the scarcity of resources. The country lacked sufficient natural resources to support its growing population and burgeoning industries. This necessitated the need for policies aimed at resource conservation and management. The government had to strike a delicate balance between economic growth and environmental sustainability in order to ensure long-term prosperity. Furthermore, India had to address the issue of widespread poverty and inequality. The majority of the population lived below the poverty line, with limited access to education, healthcare, and basic amenities. The government had to implement social welfare programs and poverty alleviation schemes in order to uplift the marginalized sections of society and reduce income disparities. In addition, India had to overcome the challenge of rapid population growth. The country's population was increasing at an alarming rate, putting immense pressure on its resources and infrastructure. The government had to implement family planning initiatives and promote birth control measures in order to stabilize the population growth rate and ensure sustainable development.- The challenges of economic development that India faced after independence were multifaceted and complex. The government had to adopt a holistic approach towards addressing these challenges in order to steer the country towards a path of economic prosperity and social progress.
