A boy named Brian is stranded after a plane crash from "summary" of THE HATCHET by Hannah Grissman
Brian finds himself alone in the wilderness after a plane crash. The pilot, the only other person on board, is dead. Brian is left with nothing but the clothes on his back and a hatchet his mother gave him before he boarded the plane. He is disoriented and in shock, unable to fully comprehend the gravity of his situation. As reality sinks in, Brian realizes that he must find a way to survive. He remembers the survival skills his father taught him and begins to take stock of his surroundings. He assesses his resources and comes up with a plan to make it through each day. He learns to forage for food, build a shelter, and protect himself from the elements. Despite his best efforts, Brian faces numerous challenges in the wilderness.
