Creationism and intelligent design purport to be scientific theories, but they fall short of meeting the basic requirements of science. A scientific theory must be testable, and the tests must be repeatable by any scientist anywhere in the world. Furthermore, any scientific theory must make predictions that can be proven wrong through experiment or observation. Creationism and intelligent design fail on both counts. One of the key features of a scientific theory is that it must be falsifiable. In other words, there must be a way to prove it wrong. Evolution, for example, could be proven wrong if a fossil of a rabbit were found in the pre-Cambrian rocks. However, no such evidence has ever been discovered.
