The green light at the end of Daisy's dock symbolizes Gatsby's unreachable dream. Gatsby believed that through his wealth and success, he could win back Daisy's love and recreate the past that they once shared. However, his romantic ideal is ultimately doomed to fail as he fails to see the reality of Daisy's commitment to her husband and the life she has chosen. Gatsby's pursuit of Daisy is also fueled by his desire to transcend his humble origins and become part of the elite society to which Daisy belongs. He believes that by possessing Daisy, he can finally achieve the happiness and fulfillment he has longed for. However, his obsession with Daisy blinds him to the emptiness and superficiality of the wealthy world he so desperately wants to be a part of. Throughout the novel, Gatsby is portrayed as a romantic dreamer who is willing to do whatever it takes to achieve his ideal. H...
