The feeling of hunger was a constant companion in our lives. It gnawed at our stomachs, reminding us of our lack. We scrounged for food wherever we could find it, digging through dumpsters or begging for scraps. The deprivation we faced was not just physical, but also emotional. We longed for the stability and security that a full meal could bring, but it always seemed just out of reach. As children, we learned to fend for ourselves at a young age. We cooked meals over an open flame in the desert, using whatever ingredients we could scavenge. Our parents were often too preoccupied with their own struggles to provide for us, leaving us to figure things out on our own.
