Della and Jim live in a small apartment from "summary" of The Gift of the Magi (Illustrated) by O. Henry

Della and Jim resided in a cozy flat on the third floor of a building. The apartment was small and modestly furnished, with worn-out furniture and peeling paint on the walls. Despite its humble appearance, the couple had made the space their own, filling it with love and laughter. The living room served as a multi-purpose area, doubling as a dining room and workspace. A small table and a few chairs were crammed into one corner, while a rickety desk sat against the opposite wall. The room was cluttered with books, papers, and various odds and ends, giving it a lived-in feel. The bedroom was just big enough to fit a double bed, a dresser, and a wardrobe. The bed was old and creaky, but it provided a comfortable place for Della and Jim to rest at the end of a long day. The dresser was filled with clothes, neatly folded and organized, while the wardrobe held their few prized possessions. The kitchen was tiny, with barely enough room to move around. The stove was old and temperamental, but it still managed to churn out delicious meals for the couple. The cabinets were stocked with basic supplies, and a small table and chairs offered a place to sit and eat.
  1. Della and Jim's apartment was a humble abode, but it was filled with warmth and character. Despite its size and shortcomings, it was a place they called home, a sanctuary where they could escape the hustle and bustle of the outside world. It may have been small, but it was their own little piece of paradise.
